The Peugeot Moonster was the winning entry to the first
Peugeot Design Competition held in 2000. The design competition
brief was to design a theoretical Peugeot vehicle for
the year 2020.
The Peugeot Moonster concept was designed by Marko Lukovic,
a 23-year old industrial design student from the Belgrade
University of Arts.
As part of the prize a full size model of the concept
was created and put on display at the 2001 Farnkfurt Motor
Show.
The Peugeot Moonster concept was intended to be a new
type of fun, urban vehicle. For the styling of the Moonster
Lukovic took inspiration from vehicles of the early 1900s.
This was in contrast to other influences, including dolphins
and the natural world. One of the more interesting features
of the Moonster, apart from the styling, was the aircraft-like
joystick which replaced the steering wheel.
The Moonster concept was constructed using polished aluminium
sheets which were formed into flowing organic curves.
The resulting chrome-plated look gave the Moonster a unique,
almost alien-like appearance.
