The Peugeot RC HYmotion4 which was unveiled at the 2008
Paris Motor Show was a sleek four-door coupe concept designed
to bring together the engineering experience and styling
lessons learnt from the Peugeot
RC concepts from 2002, and the Peugeot
908 RC concept from 2006.
The styling of the Peugeot RC HYmotion4 displays many
of the same characteristics found on the 908 RC, although
perhaps this time it is a little more tame. However the
same feline features which Peugeot are known for are still
apparent, most noticeably in the shape of the slit-like
headlights and grille shape which forms the nose.
In profile, the RC HYmotion4 concept punches above its
weight. The sleek lines could easily belong to a more
upmarket brand, and the designers have done a good job
of seamlessly integrating four full-size doors into the
body.
The Peugeot RC HYmotion4 is powered by a hybrid drivetrain
which consists of a 218 horsepower (160kW) 1.6-litre THP
petrol engine located at the rear of the vehicle, and
a 95 horsepower (70kW) electric motor under the bonnet.
Working in conjunction they provide a highly respectable
313 horsepower (230kW) and a combined cycle of just 109
g/km, or zero in electric only mode. The transmission
is handled by a paddle shift semi-auto unit which sends
the power to all four wheels. With this drivetrain the
RC HYmotion4 is able to hit 60 mph in an impressive 4.4
seconds.
Inside the Peugeot RC HYmotion4 concept are four individual
seats. The predominantly black interior is subtly highlighted
with blue lighting and trim elements.
