The Opel Flextreme concept is GM's European equivalent
to the Chevrolet
Volt concept. Both are eco-friendly hybrid concept's
motivated by a small internal combustion engine, in the
Flextreme concept a 1.3-liter Ecotec turbodiesel
is used, and a lithium-ion battery pack provides additional
power.
Two hidden Segways provide additional
low speed mobility when needed |

When the battery is used alone the Opel Flextreme has
a usable range of 40 miles. After the batteries are exhausted
the diesel engine kicks in to provide power and replenish
the batteries. Alternatively the Flextreme can be recharged
by simply plugging it into the wall socket.
Stowed in the rear of the Opel Flextreme concept two Segway
transporters are recharged by the onboard power grid for
use in more pedestrian areas.
