The E-Motion is an electrically powered vehicle from Swiss
company Mindset. The concept behind the Mindset E-Motion
was to create a commuter vehicle designed for European
metropolitan areas, where it has the greatest chance of
commercial success.
To help achieve low power consumption, and therefore improve
performance and range, the E-Motion uses lightweight materials
in its construction and a streamlined coupe-like body
to increase aerodynamic efficiency.
The chief designer at mindset, Murat Gunak, has adapted
the coupe proportions of the E-Motion into a more useful
design which is not as limited in space and adaptability
as a pure coupe. The interior features a 2+2 seating layout
with a bench seat up front. The rear cargo area is accessed
through the gullwing-hinged side windows which are laid
out in an asymmetric design. On the drivers side is a
smaller opening for coats and small bags etc. While on
the passenger side the larger opening helps when loading
suitcases, golf bags or other bulky items.
Powering the Mindset E-Motion is a 94 horsepower (70 kW)
electric motor which gets its power from a lithium-ion
battery pack which can be recharged from any standard
wall plug. In all-electric mode the E-Motion has a range
of up to 120 miles (depending on driving style), for journeys
of greater length the vehicle is equipped with a 23 hp
(17 kW) internal combustion engine which acts as an electricity
generator to top up the battery.
Despite the environmentally friendly drivetrain the Mindset
E-Motion can reach 60 mph in around 7 seconds. The top
speed is an electronically limited 87 mph. |
