The Koup showcases the future design direction for Kia
Koup is designed to highlight the shape and evolution of future Kia vehicles. Designed at the Kia Motors America Design Center in Irvine, California, the Koup concept is an attractive and feasible design, much like the Kia Kee concept which was displayed a year earlier at the Frankfurt Motor Show.

While the styling of the Kia Koup is far from groundbreaking, it does show Kia is serious about taking the brand upmarket. "The Kia KOUP concept represents the future of the Kia brand and its dynamic vehicles that speak to our core philosophies," said Tom Kearns, chief designer of Kia Motors America.

Inside the Kia Koup the seating position and dashboard is intended to evoke a sense of performance driving. Carbon fiber accents on the shifter plate and seat tilt-adjust mechanism reinforce the sporting feel.

The front-wheel-drive Kia Koup is powered by a 290 horsepower, turbocharged, 2.0 litre four-cylinder engine. This engine also delivers an impressive torque output of 289 lb-ft at 2000 rpm - 4000 rpm.
