At the 2011 Geneva Motor Show Infiniti unveiled a compact
luxury car concept called the Etherea.
The Etherea concept is designed to provide a glimpse of
how a future entry-level Infiniti could look.
Toru Saito, Corporate Vice President at Infiniti stated
that; "Etherea is about a new type of luxury for
younger buyers. It is not just a smaller version of a
typically conservative and traditional luxury car."
The Etherea concept was designed under the guidance of
Shiro Nakamura, Infiniti's Senior Vice President of Design.
The vehicle combines various features from coupe's, sedan's
and hatchback's to create a fairly unique overall package.
At 4.4m long the Infiniti Etherea is compact, but thanks
to a clever mechanical layout and innovative doors the
interior is relatively spacious and practical.
Among some of the more notable design features of the
Etherea are high-tech variations of traditional Japanese
materials and finishes, and several styling cues which
will be present on future production models - including
the distinctive crescent-shaped C-pillar first seen on
the Infiniti Essence
concept.
