Husqvarna unveiled their Mille 3 concept bike at the 2010
EICMA show in Italy. The Husqvarna Mille 3 is an odd mix
off supermoto, sportsbike and drag-racer.
However the strangeness of the Husqvarna Mille 3 doesn't
stop at the shape or style of the bike. Powering the concept
is a 993 cc V-triple which is made up of three single
cylinder Husqvarna dirt bike engines centered around a
common crankcase. Two of the pistons are housed within
the horizontal cylinder, and one is in the vertical cylinder.
The massive silencers give the bike an old-school appearance
in stark contrast to the miniturized and stylized silencers
of contemporary sports bikes.
The odd shape and design of the Husqvarna Mille 3 pretty
much guarantees that it's not going to make it to production.
Sadly there just isn't a market for such an unusual hybrid
motorcycle.
Husqvarna's press release for the Mille 3 is almost as
absurd and meaningless as the bike itself. Just for laughs
here it is:
Emotion is irrational, curiosity is a gift, and anti-conformism
is innate. With the concept study "Mille3", Husqvarna
has given form to its vision of biking, diverse and –
it goes without saying - innovative. It is a combination
of emotion, curiosity and anti-conformism, moulded in
an original form.
"A bike that is complete, but stripped down; elegant,
but slightly threatening. An explosive mixture that appeals
to all the senses and sets a new benchmark for future
Husqvarna bikes.'
If anyone knows what that jibberish means please let us
know.
