Despite its radical appearance the Fornasari Racing Buggy
is in fact headed for production. Fornasari is an Italian
company who create a number of distinctive vehicles -
mainly based around large American V8 engines. The Racing
Buggy is no exception.
Mounted up front is a GM-sourced 7.0 litre V8 which produces
600 horsepower @ 6,000 rpm and 748Nm of torque @ 5,100
rpm. This gives the vehicle a claimed top speed of 174
mph (280 km/h). The 0-60 mph run takes just 3.8 seconds.
The Fornasari Racing Buggy is also equipped with a permanent
4WD system which sends 60% of the power to the rear wheels
and 40% to the front wheels.
The chassis of the Fornasari Racing Buggy consists of
a tubular steel spaceframe with over 450 segments for
improved strength and torsional rigidity. The angular
body work consists of aluminium and carbon fibre panels.
The interior of the Racing Buggy can accommodate four
adults. Depending on the weather, the doors and roof can
be removed to create an open air vehicle which lives up
to the Buggy name.
