Chevrolet
FNR
The Chevrolet FNR is a far-future concept vehicle developed in
Shanghai by General Motor's Pan Asia Technical Automotive Center.
Far from being a preview of a production car, the Chevrolet FNR is
more of a sci-fi vehicle which showcases a number of advanced technologies.
Some of which would be possible today, others are more speculative.
The Chevrolet FNR has been designed as a semi-autonomous vehicle.
It can be controlled either by the driver or it can drive itself using
an array of onboard sensors and cameras to guide it through any situation.
The sensor suit includes a roof-mounted radar which maps out the surrounding
area.
When in autonomous mode, the front seats can be turned 180 degrees
to face the rear seats for a more sociable atmosphere.
Powering the Chevrolet FNR concept is a purely electric drivetrain
which consists of hubless wheels driven by individual electric motors.
The batteries are charged automatically by an unspecified wireless
system.
