The Audi Onix concept is the work of Andrus Ciprian, a
prolific 3D designer who previously created the Dacia
MC, Mazda
RX-Z, and Hummer HB concepts.
The Audi Onix is powered by a hybrid drivetrain which
consists of a mid-mounted V12 engine, and two 114 hp (85kW)
electric motors. This additional power, which is generated
during braking, is stored in an optimized flywheel accumulator,
located between the two electric motors. The power from
the electric motors is reserved for the front wheels,
while the V12 sends its power to the rear wheels.
Clearly the Audi Onix was conceived with racing in mind,
and although it's purely a concept Ciprian designed it
as a fictional competitor for the Porsche
918 RSR hybrid.
The bodywork of the Audi Onix has some features and lines
which are reminiscent of other Audi models, like the R8,
TT and e-tron
concept. However the headlights and grille configuration
have some familiarity with those found on various Seat
models. Overall though it's a good looking and purposeful
racer - and the orange graphics over graphite paintwork
suit the car perfectly.
