The
1962 XP-755 Mako Shark concept car was designed by Larry Shinoda
under the direction of GM Design head Bill Mitchell.
The Chevrolet XP-755 Mako Shark was created to preview future
Corvettes, and the concept was very similar in style to the
1963 production Corvette. Differences between the two included
two extra brake lights at the rear (making six in total) on
the XP-755, extending the nose of the car to make it longer
and more pointed, creating a clear glass canopy with a periscope-like
rear-view mirror, and redesigning the interior.
the styling of the XP-755 Mako Shark took inspiration from its
namesake. With a streamlined pointed nose, gill-like slits to
the side of the grill and quadruple exhausts exiting just behind
the front wheel flowing into a single large silencer under the
door.
