The
1980 British Leyland ECV2 (Energy Conservation Vehicle) was
an unattractive, yet well recieved, concept car created to highlight
British Leylands design language for the next decade.
The ECV2 was based on an existing British Leyland chassis and
was used to reseach future running gear and aerodynamics - hence
the ugly bodywork.
The British Leyland ECV2 was used to develop a three cylinder
engine, and during testing achived impressive, for the time,
fuel consumption figures.
